Serena Di Marino’s professional journey embarked in 2000, when she won first prize for the “Riccione Moda Italia”. This enabled her to work as a Designer in the Underwear and Beachwear area for La Perla-Black Label. For three and a half years, she worked closely with Donatella Dovesi, Designer Coordinator. In this time, she researched the provocative and fetish subjects. This has twisted the way she perceived the sensuality of woman.
In 2004, she became a Designer for Gaetano Navarra, who was in a partnership with Genny, a renowned Italian fashion label that began in the early sixties. After two years of hard work, she was promoted to the position of Designer Coordinator. Her job covered different areas, from the Woman prêt-a-porter collection to the uniqueness of his accessories.
During her childhood, her father had always been a big inspiration. He has taught her the greatest lesson of life and to be inspired by everything that surrounds us, transforming the ordinary into the magnificent.
In 2007 as she was coming to an end with her transitional experience at Gaetano Navarra and after the sudden death of her beloved father, she felt the need for a big change in her life, to find her path in London.
After moving to a big cosmopolitan city, she started collaborating with the talented designer Emilio de la Morena, who works with structured shapes, the essence of her actual inspiration. In addition she studied draping on a stand short course at the prestigious London College of Fashion.
After being 3 years at Emilio’s side, where she helped develop the label from upcoming to established. In 2011 she finally felt ready for her next challenge, and Plusthirtynine was born.
